What can I do to help on earth day?

You may want to be environmentally friendly but you're not sure what you can do to help. I sometimes wonder if my small contribution really makes a difference? I did a little research and found that EARTHDAY.ORG has lots of great information on what you can do to help the EARTH. Here’s some things I’ve been focusing on:

Use reusable bags when going to the store.
Eat more fruits and vegetables.
Help Earth by planting trees and gardens. Trees for the Earth campaign plans to plant 7.8 billion trees — one for each person on Earth — by Earth Day 2020.
Donate unwanted clothes.
RECYCLE- 95% of what is thrown away is recyclable. Only 10% of the plastic that is made gets recycled, and more than 70% of the plastic goes into natural ecosystems.
Find ways to reduce your plastic pollution.

Making these simple changes will have enormous impact.

One easy way to make a big difference in your own neighborhood is to walk around your community and pick up plastic bags and other items to make sure they are recycled properly. You can even make it into a fun game or challenge with your friends to see who can collect the most. By organizing events like this you can make your own neighborhood prettier and help the planet at the same time.

My Act of Green this year is to use less straws by declining them when they are offered with beverages. This is a very simple act that helps to raise awareness of the issues with plastic straws. Often the server will ask why we don’t want any straws and it gives us an opportunity to help educate people about the issues. The more people that help with this campaign the sooner we can fix the problem.
